The Gay American Smoke Out


The Gay American Smoke Out. is an opportunity for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered (LGBT) individuals to challenge themselves to quit smoking, and for LGBT organizations to provide resources and raise awareness about tobacco use.

This event invites interested attendees to investigate emerging production and consumption patterns in the contemporary "adult" industry, including locally retailed pornographic films and magazines as well as nationally marketed hardcore Internet pornography. bell hooks "What's Love Got to Do With It?" 5 - 7 p.m. @ College 9 and 10 Multipurpose Room. UCSC alumna (PhD, Literature), 1983, bell hooks is a passionate scholar and activist on gender, race, teaching and contemporary culture. Ms. hooks' presentation will focus on these issues and the idea that fighting oppressions does not require anger or conflict, but opening our hearts and speaking the truth fearlessly.
