QReview!
The Man Who Fell in Love with the Moon
Author: Tom Spanbauer
Section: Fiction
Genre: Realistic Fiction, Western, Gay, Lesbian,
Bisexual
Rating: 7.5
Plot Rundown: The story of the life of a
bisexual
half-Indian boy named Duivichi-un-Dua, nicknamed Shed,
who lives in the ridiculously pink Indian Head Hotel
of Excellent, Idaho with its proprietor, the
unquestionably insane Ida Richilieu; its most famous
prostitute, the impossibly beautiful rose-loving Alma
Hatch; and Dellwood Barker, the man who fell in the
love with the moon.
Review: The above plot rundown cannot even
come close to summarizing the spectacular psychosis
of this book.
Alternately philosophical, mystical, hysterical,
analytical, apocalyptical, thersitical, and just
plain-out weird, The Man Who Fell in Love with the
Moon is a rollercoaster ride of a book like few
others. The only drawback is the peculiar, disjointed
writing style - although it conveys a mindblowing
story, it may not be a style that everybody can enjoy
reading.
