Quicksilver County Park This park is the
site of over 135 years of mining activities
and the former home to 1,800 miners and their
families. Hydrothermal activity, caused by
tectonic plate movement about 10 million
years ago, changed some of the area’s
serpentine rock into the red ore of mercury,
known as Cinnabar. Encompassing nearly 4000
acres, the park offers one of the most
spectacular wildflower displays in the region
